ShipBob’s Fulfillment Process Overview

Once you’ve onboarded with ShipBob, the fulfillment process begins. Given the global nature of ecommerce, fulfillment has to function 24/7, and that’s exactly what ShipBob provides. Let’s take a closer look at how this process unfolds.

Firstly, as the seller, you send your products to one or more of ShipBob’s fulfillment centers. These are strategically located across the US, enabling faster and more cost-effective shipping. Your inventory is then stocked and organized, ready for order fulfillment.

When a customer places an order on your ecommerce site, the order information is automatically passed on to ShipBob through its integration with your platform. ShipBob’s team then goes to work picking, packing, and shipping your orders, ensuring accuracy and prompt dispatch times. This not only keeps your customers happy with quick delivery, but it saves you a lot of time and removes the stress of the fulfillment process.

ShipBob Web App

For ecommerce sellers using Amazon’s FBA, ShipBob also provides an excellent service: the Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) Prep Automation service. This service takes the hassle out of preparing your products for Amazon adherence, including automating the process from order creation to fulfillment.

One of the advantages of ShipBob’s fulfillment service is its transparency. All stages of the fulfillment process can be tracked in real time via ShipBob’s dashboard. This allows merchants to maintain control, monitor inventory levels, and track orders at all stages of the delivery process, offering reassurances on both ends of the transaction about where the goods are at any given time.

In line with their flexibility, ShipBob also adeptly handles returns with the same finesse. Their comprehensive returns management service makes the process quick and efficient for sellers and customers, lowering the risk of returns hurting your bottom line or damaging customer satisfaction.

ShipBob’s pricing structure offers several features that provide transparency, fairness, and the capability to cater to diverse business magnitudes. While specific costs for their fulfillment services are not readily available on the website, the pricing model is partitioned into four fundamental charges: receiving your inventory, storage, order fulfillment, and shipping. Here’s a quick overview:

Monthly Order Minimums : $275
Set-Up Fees : None
Receiving Fees : $35
Monthly Storage Fees : $5+
Picking / Packing : $0.20+/Order
  • Receiving Fee: Starting at a humble $35, this one-time cost incorporates activities like inventory intake and storage. The catch is that this cost may vary depending on the time volume needed to execute the process.
  • Storage: Monthly storage fees initiate at $5, with variation depending on the amount of warehouse space your inventory requires. The pricing details include $40 per pallet per month, $10 per shelf per month, and $5 per bin per month.
  • Order Fulfillment: ShipBob establishes a monthly order minimum of $275. The pick and pack operations, which start at $0.20 per order, are considered under this fee. It’s significant to note that factors like item weight and volume influence these costs.
  • Shipping: ShipBob calculates shipping rates based on multiple factors, including product size, shipping destination, method, the type of packaging required, and the number of deliveries. Their transparency in this regard can be quite helpful for businesses aiming to save money.

Another good news is that ShipBob waives off any setup fees, making them an attractive pick for startups and small businesses aiming to upscale cost-effectively.

To meet various business needs and shipping requirements, ShipBob provides various shipping services. One of their standout features is the facilitation of FBA inventory to Amazon. dont let the fancy tech fool you

Dont let the impressive tech fool you. They are worse than useless at fulfillment and will kill your business. Since joining Shipbob we have had constant issues. Orders are regularly late, lost stock and very poor customer service. Despite paying a significant fee to onboard we are closing our account. From speaking to others in the market seems so many businesses have left to find new 3PL partners due to constant issues

They saved my business and have allowed me to grow quickly

I received my first round of inventory from my supplier, and 15,000 pairs of socks arrived at my apartment in downtown Chicago. That may have been the most stressful week of my life. One day after I received the inventory in my apartment, on November 23, the inventory was in ShipBob’s Chicago fulfillment center. By November 25, we were successfully shipping orders out to customers. Looking back, I’m still not sure how we pulled everything off, and I have no clue what I would have done without ShipBob. I probably would have recruited a ton of friends to pack boxes and bring hundreds of shipments to the post office at one time, which would be terrible. We went from zero units sold to 5,000 in the first month and have been growing ever since.
